The Chuck in Up Chuck

I recently had the misfortune of the rather incredible, yet completely disgusting experience of throwing up. After the whole “oh that tastes horrible eeeeeeh” moment and profoundly scrubbing my teeth, it got me thinking. It is rather amazing that we can even bring the content of our stomach up the way that it went down, many animals can’t manage that. While we often consider it gross (what with the horrid smell of acid and deteriorating food and all) it is a function that actually keeps us healthy and we should be thankful to have. Horses for example cannot throw up and without this function they often die when something doesn’t agree with them because they have no way of getting rid of it. So why if it is such a practical necessary function that clearly indicates that there is something in your tummy that SHOULD NOT be there, do we try our very hardest and go to all lengths to avoid getting rid of the bad stuff. We fight our bodies when our bodies are just fighting on our behalf doing their jobs to keep us healthy… So i think its about time that we stopped looking down on people who are throwing up..

This should not however apply to alcohol related spewing, cause people who spew up their drink are just throwing money down the drain quite literally as they spend a small fortune to poison themselves to the point where their body defies them and spits it back in their faces.. But while this should in no way be respected, it is still important that these very silly people do throw up (as long as they try not to make a mess) because they are eliminating poison from their body and if their body does not manage to fix their mistake they could end up very very ill if they don’t

However despite the vital importance of throwing up, we are so compelled by society to keep it down. In fact I myself was subject to enduring a very very strong inner battle earlier today as my body tried with all its might to bring up my breakfast and i tried with all my might to keep it down because my lovely man is petrified of people throwing up and I didn’t want to gross him out. This should not be the case, my body was screaming at me that if I just gave in and lost my breakfast I would feel immensely better, but my mind was screaming if you throw up Kris will freak out. So I caved and held the contents of my stomach in with every power I had and eventually won the battle and kept my cocoa pops down. But is won really the right word for it? And why are we battling at all?
